It’s that time again! Michael Buble’s smooth voice serenades us over the radio with his brilliant rendition of “Let it Snow.” Houses are covered with bright lights, tinsel, green and red colours. Children anxiously count down the days, hoping they were good enough for a visit by Santa.
It’s a magical time, with one other little benefit – most of us also have breaks over Christmas. Breaks means time to play games!
It has been a great year for games, and no doubt there are some great ones that you’ve missed. And so we at Digitally Downloaded will count down to Christmas with one game recommendation for you each day.
Enjoy, and happy holidays!
I know what you are thinking; how does a Diablo-clone where enemies are slaughtered by the thousands really fit itself into the holiday spirit? For this game to have any connection, we must go back in time. Think back to when you were a child, when holidays weren’t all about seeing relatives and enjoying their company. What was your favourite aspect about holidays? The gifts, and specifically the gifts you acquired. If you were a bit mischievous, you might have also enjoyed bragging about your gifts to your young fellows.
Torchlight II perfectly captures this gift-loving mentality. Not only does loot of every size, shape, and colour explode from your enemies, but the multiplayer allows for a great number of other individuals of the same mentality to join in and relish in that childish glee. I highly recommend gathering a group of mates for a LAN party, as being able to directly broadcast your superiority is a pleasure second to none.
