Strange as it may seem, the upcoming ‘Revert Pack’ add-on for Activision and Robomodo’s revival of the Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater series will indeed feature the metal legends as playable skaters.
The pack itself, officially called the Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3 HD Revert Pack (because of the additional THPS3 levels in the download) is a very solid add-on to the excellent throwback boarder as it features the return of the popular ‘revert’ trick
“It’s been incredible to watch fans of the original THPS series and new generations of gamers embrace Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater HD. The Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3 HD Revert Pack DLC adds even more of this timeless gameplay, with the best levels from THPS3,” said Tony Hawk, “We’re adding the Revert as part of our title update in order to thank fans for being so patient. Get ready for some insanely high scores!”
Before we get to the Metallica portion of the news, I should also mention that Activision recently announced that the revert will be available as a free ‘patch’ of sorts for players even if they don’t pick up the $4.99 USD pack. Obviously if you do get the full pack, you’ll get a lot more content though. Which brings us to James Hetfield.
It’s a little odd t be sure, but Metallica frontman Hetfield will be joined by bandmate Rob Trujillo and be fully playable as skaters in the new pack. The band’s All Nightmare Long song will also be included as an in game track to round out the classic rock group’s presence. Even if you don’t give a lick about metal though, the pack should definitely be worth THPS fans time as there’s a lot of content to be had.
Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3 HD Revert Pack expands on the game’s winning formula with the inclusion of three levels from the original Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3 (Airport, Los Angeles, and Canada). Skateboarding legends Steve Caballero and Geoff Rowley make their return to the world of Tony Hawk games and James Hetfield and Robert Trujillo from Metallica make a surprise appearance as playable characters. The Metallica track “All Nightmare Long” has also been added. But perhaps most importantly for true fans, the Revert move makes it return for mindblowing combos!
Look for the ‘Revert Pack’, Metallica and all, to be available on Xbox Live, Steam and the PSN on December 4th.
