Rumored earlier in the year, Sega is indeed bringing two more of their biggest names from generations past to the Xbox Live.
Before you get overly excited though, there’s nothing all that new about what the publisher will be bringing to XBLA and the PSN. ToeJam & Earl and its sequel Panic on Funkotron (such a great name) will both post in November- but they’ll more or less be the same games that you remember from the Genesis. Not that that’s a particularly bad thing, but still, those looking for ‘HD-ified’ versions of the classic titles can just keep on waiting.
One thing that the releases might foretell though, and this is pure conjecture, is that maybe (maybe) there’s a possibility of a real sequel on the horizon? Or maybe even just on the drawing board? It does seem unlikely, but the XBLA/PSN releases might just be to test the waters and see if there’s an audience still around for the wacky alien pair.
Yeah, it’s remote- but I can dream can’t I?
Look for ToeJam & Earl and Panic on Funkotron to arrive for download services on November 7th.
