Call of Cthulhu: The Wasted Land now has a free demo version for iOS devices that’s expandable as you play… just like your madness!
This is kind of a unique model. The base game is free to download and gives players the tutorial and first mission (Pudding Lane) to play around with. From there, you can buy the whole title outright ($4.99 USD) and play to your heart’s ever maddening content or proceed on a mission by mission basis and pay .99 USD per level.
Now it’s pretty obvious what the better deal is. The a’ la carte option would pretty quickly get to be way more expensive than just buying the complete game, but this new version does give players a chance to pay a nominal amount for a few missions and see if they’re really into what the turn based strategy title has to offer. Choice is always a good thing.
In my opinion (and that of our review) though, The Wasted Land is far and away one of the best strategy experiences you’ll find on iOS – real time or turn based. I don’t think it’d be too long before you just flat out upgraded if you tried the ‘free’ edition.
