WayForward’s reboot of one of the oldest action franchises on consoles (and in arcades) finally has a release date and a price tag.
The self-professed “love letter to the classic beat’em up genre” will be hitting consoles (and repeatedly beating thugs over the head) on the PSN this September the 11th and on Xbox Live the next day- the 12th.
Now that you’ve got the 411 on Billy and Jimmy and their bro-tastic adventure to take on Skullmageddeon and save their girlfriend Marion, get yourself pumped up by high-fiving your nearest bud and visitwww.doubledragonneon.com, the official place for all things Double Dragon: Neon. Developed by the geniuses from WayForward Technologies, Double Dragon: Neon is a love letter to the classic beat ‘em up genre with modern sensibilities and a thick slather of Eighties acid-washed aesthetic.
I’m really looking forward to this one as I was a big fan of Double Dragon on the NES- also, is it just me or is there a lot more going on in the DD universe than I caught onto when I was but a lad? Notice the bit from the release above says the the Lee bros are storming Skullmageddeon to save “their” girlfriend. Hmmm…
You know, I really wouldn't care about this game – I wasn't a massive fan of the originals back in the day.
Then I saw that it was being made by Wayforward.
As in the guys that made the recent BloodRayne.
I want this game. Now.
Wayforward can pretty much do no wrong for me too. Just a great studio.
They managed to make a licensed game fun! Thor on the DS was developed by WayForward, and it was a short-but-brilliant ride.
I tend to like WayForward's efforts, and I remember liking the Double Dragon games way back when. This seems like a good get.
