There’s a sick amount of freebies for PS Plus subscribers in this week’s update for Sony’s service. Like a stunning amount. And… it’s good stuff too?!?
Shocking, I know. When I heard that Sony would be doing this ‘Instant Game Collection’ promo, I immediately thought it’d be kinda meh, but oh how wrong I was. All in all, there’s a monster 12 games in the set- and all of them are (at the very least) decent… some of them are downright great.
Promotion aside, there isn’t much in the way of new content other than a demo for Scorcery and the requisite assortment of DLC and add-ons. Nothing too special about any of it though.
It’s notable that there’s nothing for the PSV in this update. An expansion for Ridge Racer and a demo for Pinball Arcade are the sole additions for the console. It’s more than a little worrisome to see the PS3 get tons of free games in this update and the Vita get nothing. Shades of the PSP’s history repeating itself?

Agreed. So much good stuff to be had here. I know on another blog I follow, the person is not a fan of PS+ because they view it as a rental service, which is an analogy I agree with, but since I tend to rent games – I'm okay with that. 😛
Oh look, I understand why people are antsy about the whole subscription services things, but I see it like this – it's only a problem when 1) it stops (which means that we've all likely moved to a better service already, for it to become such an obsolete service) or 2) I stop paying for it. Considering it costs less per month than a new game, PSPlus is good value – that's a simple fact.
And if it stops? Well, I still have around 50 retail PS3 games 😉
