Konami has released a few new screens along with a date for its upcoming tactical (and portable) espionage action collection.

The compilation pairs Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty and MGS3: Snake Eater into one sneaky little package for your ‘on the go’ PSVita gaming pleasure.

Just in time for Father’s Day and Graduation, Konami Digital Entertainment, Inc. today unveiled the launch month for METAL GEAR SOLID HD Collection, coming to the Playstation®Vita system this June. From the critically acclaimed director, Hideo Kojima, METAL GEAR SOLID HD Collection includes two beloved classics, METAL GEAR SOLID 2: Sons of Liberty and METAL GEAR SOLID 3: Snake Eater. Featuring stunning, upgraded graphics from the original releases on the PlayStation®2, both titles include Transfarring, where players can transfer save data from their PlayStation®3 METAL GEAR SOLID HD Collection to their PlayStation®Vita system and start the action from where they left off.
Metal Gear Solid HD Collection for the PlayStation®Vita allows fans to experience the series like never before with optimized controls that take full advantage of the Vita’s unique touch-screen and rear touchpad. Using just their fingers, gamers can zoom in on captivating cut-scenes, peek around corners, interrogate enemies, cycle through weapons/items, as well as perform quick attacks with their knife.

The touch controls should be interesting and the cross platform save system is always a very welcome addition. The biggest question mark (floating above many a gamers head) is probably if MGS die-hards will still be interested in these games after seeing multiple releases of them already.

Both of these titles have appeared on multiple consoles at this point and, even with updated graphics and a few new control gimmicks, have definitely lost a little shine. I mean, how many times can you eat a flying squirrel?
