Last year was a great year for games. While 2012 looks to be even better, Digitally Downloaded has taken a look back with a special awards issue magazine.
We have endeavoured to recognise the most innovative and interesting games across all download platforms with this issue. The nice thing about digital downloads is that they allow small releases by tiny teams of developers to stand side-by-side with the big productions, and we have always tried to give both sizes of production equal air time. There are some results we hope you will find surprising in there, as we hope you’ll find a new game to play and love after reading this.
Head on over to Issuu (http://issuu.com/mattsainsbury/docs/theawardsissue) to take a read. I’d like to put out a special thanks to our new designer, Tim, who has done an awesome job to make the magazine look so good.
We’re going to return to a regular schedule with magazine releases, so stay tuned for more. In the meantime, let us know what you think about our choices!
Tim really did do an awesome job with this. I hope everyone enjoys it!
An excellent issue imo, nicely done all of you. 🙂
Some of the items in there I agree with very strongly, but probably none more than Limbo's win. That game just really struck a sweet spot with me – and while the game play was enjoyable, it was without a doubt the striking visual presentation that pulled me in and kept me thinking about this haunting game well after I first beat it.
I really, really need to get around to playing Tactics Ogre too.
