Last year, EA acqiored PopCap for a substantial sum. PopCap’s first financial results following the acquisition suggest EA did the right thing.
Accoding to its financial report, PopCap’s revenue has increased 30 per cent year-on-year. This doesn’t necessarily mean profit was also up, but it does mean PopCap is selling more stuff.
EA’s digital revenue, thanks in part to the acquisitions of PopCap and Firemint, is also well up with a 40 per cent increase to $274 million in the quarter. In the same quarter last year, it was $195 million. The other big success story for EA was The Sims: FreePlay, which was the top-grossing iPad app for the year.
I'm glad to see Pop Cap selling more stuff, they have some creative games and deserve a fair shot.

I remember when it was first announced that EA was acquiring PopCap a lot of people were worried that it would be the "end" of a good thing for the developers.
Back then I said that noone would spend $750 million to acquired a company, and then butcher it, and EA would allow PopCap to continue on its merry way.
Looks like I was right 🙂 PopCap's done great as part of the EA group.

EA and Pop Cap deserves the success as they continue to make high quality games. My favorite games from them were Plants vs. Zombies and The Sims.
