Perhaps not is the answer. Perhaps reflecting how disappointed “core” gamers were with the Nintendo Wii, there appears to be some skepticism out there amongst our readers on whether Nintendo can deliver this time around.
Just 20 per cent of the people who responded to the poll said they were planning on getting a Wii U at launch. 30 per cent are going to wait and see how it turns out first before making any decisions.
12 per cent are planning on getting one, but way down the track; the next gen PlayStation or Xbox will be be their next console purchase, and 37 per cent claimed they will never get one.
Fingers crossed for Nintendo it can turn those numbers around! Thanks for voting in the poll, and be sure to vote in our next one: “Which gaming hardware will be your main one in 2012?”
I'm thinking I voted with the 30% "wait and see" group. I'd certainly love to see them knock it out of the park, but don't plan to dedicate any time or money yet.

I marked down "buy at launch" with my vote (kinda need to for this gig), but this is the least enthused I've been personally for a Nintendo console yet. I'm just not sure what gaming value it's going to bring to me, since I already have an iPad + Airplay.

I'm buying at launch and if you're a gamer and currently have the money I can't see why you wouldn't buy a console in the launch period. If you wait a year or so and save maybe £100 you could easily got your money's worth in that time. I didn't buy a PS3 at launch as was at uni and didn't have the money to drop on it at the time, but the amount of use means that £400 is barely noticeable over a 6 year period, or is it just me?

Hi Mart,
I tend to buy my consoles at launch, but at the same time, I don't tend to use those consoles much for the first six months. The launch window games don't tend to fulfill the promise of the console.
Whenever you buy the console it ends up being worth the money, but after the 3DS launch I can certainly understand why some might be holding off the Wii U 🙂

I tend not to be a right-away adopter myself, and this will likely fall into that category. Saving money is a factor, waiting to see if there are kinks to work out first is another, and really until there is a library of games that interests me, I have little need to rush out and buy at lunch. Especially since I tend to have several other systems and a large collection of games to tide me over in the meantime.
