Multiplayer action-puzzler, Slam Bolt Scrappers, is just five days away, and looks like it could be a sleeper hit on the PlayStation Network.

For up to four players, the concept is simple – build and protect towers that you from blocks that fall from the sky as to defeat enemies. Different blocks create different weapons, and you’ll be making use of madcap weapons like lightening blasters, flying ping-pong paddles and laser guns.

From the screenshots it looks if Sony and Fire Hose Games are aiming for a very fast, very arcade style of puzzler, with plenty of opportunities for underhanded tactics and a lot of humour.

It’s a formula that works – remember how much fun Worms can be?

It’s the kind of game that wouldn’t see life if there wasn’t a download service – to be frank it looks too simple for a retail release, but the PSN could use quality, entertaining, bright and cheerful puzzle games that aren’t FPSers at the moment. It’s been years since Fat Princess, so hopefully Slam Bolt Scrappers is well-supported, and if so, we’ll see you there in a few days.

In the meantime enjoy the screenshots!
