New Command & Conquer game from EA is both social and browser-based

You’re probably thinking “uh oh,” from that title – there’s a few million browser based “strategy MMOs,” out there, and they rival the very best of Zynga for their ability to make you part with money from your wallet, but then again, EA is making a big deal of Command & Conquer: Tiberium Alliances.

This is not the brand new Command & Conquer game that was announced at the VGAs, mind you. This is a wholly separate game that will be the newest attempt at making a social game for the gamers.

We’re being promised real-time stats (love stats), news feeds (or spam? You decide), and completely interactive and dynamic gameplay (marketing words that don’t mean a whole lot) for this one.

Certainly the early screenshots make this look like a fairly standard “base building” game. Which is a fun diversion while you’re at work, certainly; it just remains to be seen whether it can pull you away from the “proper” games when you’re at home as well.

That said, you’ll be able to try it out for yourself soon. The beta starts on December 15 (US time) and rolls until whenever.
